Next to the Cathedral of San Giorgio in Modica is Palazzo Polara, one of the most beautiful noble palaces in the town of Val di Noto. It was built by the Polara family in the 18th century, simultaneously with the construction of the Cathedral. In the early 19th century, another portion of the Palazzo was added with the purpose of housing important family members and other nobles. An external door leads into a courtyard, bright and with details in white stone typical of the Modica Baroque, which leads to the independent house and constitutes part of the Polara palace. An atrium, carefully restored, leads first to the kitchen decorated with floral motifs, to a bathroom covered with period tiles, and through a pitch stone staircase, finally to the noble floor. Here, two large bedrooms overlook a terrace with a view of the Baroque of Modica, served by another bathroom. The hall, with a frescoed and carefully restored vault, enjoys a view of the steps of the Cathedral and the roofs of the historic center. Only 90 minutes away from Catania Fontanarossa airport and 20 minutes from the Catania-Gela motorway entrance. Excellent investment also for tourist rentals.
