Properties for sale in Emilia Romagna
Emilia-Romagna includes two distinct historical-geographical parts: Emilia and Romagna, whose subdivision dates back to the Byzantine era. On the one hand, Emilia, which includes most of the metropolitan city of Bologna, home to the oldest university in the western world, is characterized by its lively cultural and social life. Known for its towers and long arcades, it was named European Capital of culture in 2000 and has a well-preserved historical center, one of the largest in Italy. Among the other provinces, Piacenza, where the oldest streets remind to the glorious past of the city when it was an important duchy with Parma, also known for its numerous cultural attractions, eno-gastronomic itineraries, as well as places where the great Giuseppe Verde lived. In this area between the plain and the first mountains there are enchanting medieval villages, towers and ancient abbeys, Romanesque churches and authentic flavors. An area of great and unexpected beauty, this part of Emilia Romagna, which also includes Reggio-Emilia and Modena, as well as areas such as Val Trebbia, Val Tidone and the wine road that crosses the Piacenza Hills, where lovers of food and good wine will find a whole world of gastronomic specialties. On the other hand, Romagna, of which Dante first spoke in the Divine Comedy, includes the provinces of Ravenna, the capital of the Western Roman Empire at that time, which today preserves some monuments considered World Heritage Sites, all dating back to late antiquity and Byzantine times; Forlì-Cesena, and again Rimini and Riccione, overlooking the coast of the Adriatic Sea, famous for the sparkling nightlife that distinguishes them. Emilia-Romagna seems to be a perfect combination of art, culture, good food and fun, which characterizes most of its cities.
