At 1800 feet and just over 30 miles from Rome, with spectacular views of the surrounding Sabine hills, Palazzo Parisi sits at the summit of the medieval village of Oliveto.
The earliest records we have of the village and the house are from 1085. In the XV Century Oliveto became a castle and was owned by the Brancaleoni family. In the XVII Century the castle was then owned by the Barberini family who later sold it to the Principe di Santacroce. In 1750 Marchese Girolamo Belloni bought the property and the title of ‘Marchese di Oliveto’. In 1817 the property was purchased by Marchese Cavalletti.
The Palazzo is situated in a hectare of olive groves with beautiful gardens realised by the well-known garden designer Lady Arabella Lennox- Boyd, and with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The property has been lovingly restored with painstaking attention to detail.
The Palazzo comprises, seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, a frescoed salotto (sitting room) with comfortable furniture and terracotta floors, it offers a cool respite from the sweltering midday sun.
On the piano nobile there is a frescoed dining room adjoining a 70 feet long large covered terrace or loggia which provides a stunning alternative to dining indoors with beautiful views over the Sabine hills. The frescoed salotto adjoins two bedrooms with bathrooms and the kitchen and ironing room.
On the first floor there is a large frescoed billiard room and 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms.
The top floor has a central large room with 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
On the garden level there are an old kitchen, several rooms and large cellars.
Lady Lennox-Boyd has combined a more formal garden near the house with substantial naturalistic planting with olive trees leading to the infinity pool and pool-house.
