15th century stone watermill which has been lovingly and sensitively restored to preserve its original features. This "Once Upon A Time" place renamed as "the fairytale house" is in a very private setting alongside a river in an area surrounded by olive groves and vineyards which has attracted poets, writers and artists since the 1700's when the English Romantic poet William Wordsworth made the millennial Vallombrosa Abbey and its fantastic pine forest (visited several times by the Prince of Wales) famous on the international map. The informal garden bordered by the river offers many inviting nooks and crannies to sit, while the superb salt water swimming pool is in a beautiful and natural setting with steps leading down the river where guests can enjoy a dip under the waterfall. The lovely patio overlooking the river, painted by a Florentine artist on the model of a Medici villa, is the perfect spot for outdoor candle-lit eating in the evening. The delightfully restored hay loft attached to the house is a magical place for outdoor breakfasts and dinners. The mill-room is a hide-away special room for relaxed eating and wine tasting in an atmosphere of past times.
