Recently completely renovated villa (built 1648) with pool and less than an hour drive from the center of Florence. It offers lots of privacy (1.8 ha of land) as it has served for years as a "retreat" of monks and nuns from Tuscany. The serene atmosphere is still felt and the villa is located at 560 meters above sea level at the foot of the Apennines with a beautiful view over the Arno valley.
From the center of Pian di Sco a steep 800 meter (approximately) small road in good condition brings one to the property, the last 200 meters are made up of a gravel road taking one up to a private driveway flanked by a border of lavender and roses. The beautifully landscaped garden with several sun terraces and a gazebo has views over the valley, a private olive grove and fruit trees including figs.
Via a staircase in the so-called authentic 'muri secchi’ (monumental stacked stone walls) one can reach the phenomenal swimming pool (6m x 12 m). In total privacy one enjoys the sunny Italian life, cooling down and admiring the views.
This villa is one of the few majestic buildings in Tuscany which includes a number of square meters to overlook (380 m2). Villas of such stature are usually huge in size and therefore hardly manageable in terms of maintenance and costs.
Through one of the imposing round solid wood entrance doors, one enters the former hall with a fireplace, currently used as one of the living rooms. On one side is the modern kitchen with fireplace, cooking island and doors opening onto one of the terraces.
On the other side is a study with an additional fireplace, which eventually may be used as two bedrooms.
Beside the kitchen is a practical laundry room with sink, second dishwasher, built-in refrigerator and various cabinets.
The first floor is reached by stairs from original pietra serena (stone), bringing one up to the spacious second cozy living room with fireplace and views over the valley.
Also located here is a private segment: the master bedroom with bathroom, separate toilet and walk-in closet. From this bedroom one has a magnificent view over the valley, to be admired through the (French) 'porta finestra "(large windows).
In addition, there is a fourth bedroom with its own bathroom, separate toilet and closet space on the first floor. In this bedroom a modern steel staircase leading to the unique fifth bedroom in the tower, again with a peak at the beautiful view.
The cantina (cellar) can be reached via a staircase inside and from the outside of the house. Here is the complete central heating working on pellets (economically and environmentally friendly composted waste wood). The house is mainly heated by underfloor heating.
