Puglia is an enchanting land of light and sea, of ancient and modern, of cities rich in history in which the mysterious rhythm of “Pizzica” resounds. Colors, scents and fascinating landscapes form the “fresco” of Puglia, a region where the smell of ancient pine and olive trees joins the sea breeze and salty air.
The beaches of Puglia represent, above all during the summer days, a perfect relief from the torrid climate; in the evening, however, when the air is cooler, you can opt to visit some beautiful cities. Alberobello is probably one of the most famous destinations in Puglia: in addition to being part of the UNESCO Heritage, its historic center is entirely made up of “trulli”, pyramid-shaped buildings that make this inland town of Bari unique in the world. The trulli date back to prehistoric times and, even today, they are used as dwellings, thus representing a long-lasting and original example of spontaneous architecture.
Polignano a Mare, a small town south of Bari, is the place that inspired the singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno for the creation of "Nel blu dipinto di blu", a song also known as "Volare" that had a worldwide success. Polignano a Mare is a place where you can admire medieval buildings and fabulous cliffs immersed in the turquoise sea. Descending towards the south of the region, the Murge plateau gently slopes down, giving way to a vast flat area: the Salento, a green peninsula surrounded by two seas, Ionian and Mediterranean, where mysterious dolmens and menhirs hidden in the countryside indicate the path and the ancient farms have been converted into charming accommodation facilities. Absolutely not to be missed in Salento are the cities of Lecce, Otranto, Gallipoli and Santa Maria di Leuca.
Puglia, therefore, in addition to being a beautiful sea destination, is also a territory rich in art, historical places and wonders of nature, which welcomes in a dream landscape where the sun shines all year round.
