Discover our selection of prestigious properties and luxury villas in Palermo, one of the most beautiful cities in Sicily, as well as being the capital of the island.
The attractions of this city are many, especially in relation to its millenary history, which has contributed to the creation of a remarkable architectural and artistic heritage, leading some monuments and sites of the city to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
Walking through the streets of the historic center considered the largest in Europe, you can savor its historical background: first of all, the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary of the Assumption in Heaven, embodies many historical and architectural passages due to the various incursions and to the numerous kingdoms governing the city. Born in 1600 for Christian worship, in 800 it was transformed into a mosque, following the raid of the Saracens, to become a Christian church again with the arrival of the Normans in 1100. Among the stops not to be missed in Palermo, the Palazzo dei Normanni, also called the Royal Palace of Palermo, today the seat of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, but its importance has even deeper origins, because it represents the oldest royal residence in Europe.
Enchanting and absolutely worth visiting in Palermo, Villa Giulia: the ideal place to relax, a public garden next to the city botanical garden, which houses the Dodecahedron clock, made of marble, as well as other sculptures. Finally, an essential expression of the city of Palermo are its markets and street food. At the historic markets such as Ballarò, Vucciria and Capo you will find the most varied stalls, where it is a must to taste the best street food products, such as arancine, panelle and frittula. Palermo is an authentic city, both for its origins and for its original flavors.
