Sardinia is the second largest Italian island, and is located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Greeks called it Hyknusa or Ichnussa (Ιχνουσσα), from the Greek ichnos (human footprint) due to its resemblance to a large footprint; Sardinia, however, takes its name from the Latin Sardinia, as the Romans called it. With its 1840 km of coastline, it is the Italian region with the greatest coastal development; the sea is clear, its waters are crystal clear, preserved from any kind of pollution. Many beaches in Sardinia are now nationally and internationally well known, such as Villasimius, Emerald Coast and Alghero, and are among the favorite destinations for holidays: without any doubts, in fact, if your idea of holiday is the desire to find the sea with crystal clear waters, a nature with strong colors and smells, perfectly in harmony with an original, discreet and refined architecture, the Emerald Coast makes your dream come true.
Many others, on the other hand, equally beautiful, have managed to preserve their wild nature by completely or partially escaping the mass tourism. You will be fascinated by the small coves that hide wild corners and crystalline seas, you will be amazed by the wonders that nature, with patience over the centuries, has been able to create in the spectacular caves that penetrate the heart of the island. There are numerous historical and archaeological testimonies in the region; the most famous are undoubtedly the Nuraghi: there are 7,000 scattered throughout the island, one every 4 sqkm, and they represent the most impressive megalithic monuments in Europe.
Among the most famous cities, however, the first one is certainly Porto Cervo, the beating heart of the Emerald Coast, which was born in the sixties by the hand of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and since then its territory has undergone numerous transformations and evolutions, before becoming what it is today: a place with breathtaking beaches and nature, surrounded by accommodation facilities that combine the flavors, culture and traditions of the place with modernity and luxury.
