Where the Baroque enchants whoever is walking among the scenic stairways that lead to the majestic Cathedral of San Giorgio, looking around you can admire the facade of the most beautiful noble palace in Modica, Palazzo Polara. It was built by the Polara family in the eighteenth century. at the same time as the construction of the Duomo. As an addition, it was added in the early 19th century a wing to the Palace with the purpose of hosting important family members and other nobles. A door leads into a small courtyard flooded with light, between the blue sky of Modica and the white stone of the side aisles of the Duomo.
From a carefully restored atrium, you enter the kitchen elegantly decorated with floral motifs and a bathroom covered with period tiles, and through a pitch stone staircase to the main floor. Here both bedrooms overlook a large terrace in the intimacy created by ornamental plants and have the convenience of another bathroom. The surprise of the hall, with the frescoed and carefully restored vault, which overlooks the staircase of the Cathedral and from which one almost has the feeling of being able to touch the Corinthian capitals and the scrolls of the Cathedral of San Giorgio, one of the most beautiful examples of the late Sicilian Baroque.
